About the Role
DIRCO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to join its team as an Assistant Finance Manager at the Assistant Director level. This is a senior role offering a competitive government salary and the opportunity to play a critical part in managing the financial operations of a key national department.
Key Requirements
To be considered for this prestigious position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of an NQF level 6/7 qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Cost Accounting.
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a finance environment, with at least three years at a supervisory level.
- Specific experience in project management finance and the preparation of Annual Financial Statements in line with GRAP/GAAP.
Essential Competencies and Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the Legislative Framework governing the Public Service, including the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and the Division of Revenue Act.
- Expertise in Generally Recognized Accounting Practice (GRAP) and Supply Chain Procedures.
- Proficiency in government financial systems and an understanding of foreign currency.
- Strong skills in problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, project management, and computer literacy.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be entrusted with the following duties:
- Manage Internal Control services to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Oversee expenditure management, monthly reconciliations, and the compilation of terms of reference for SCM.
- Prepare annual budgets and monitor spending; prepare quarterly financial statements per GRAP standards.
- Manage the Financial Reporting of the Public Entity and ensure compliance with all financial prescripts.
- Assist in developing financial policies, procedures, and processes.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and provide periodic financial reports to the advisory Committee.
- Advise the secretariat and board on investment opportunities.
