Who Should Apply?

This internship is ideal for dedicated individuals who are serious about pursuing a career in education. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Be currently enrolled at a recognized tertiary institution, studying toward a teaching qualification for the Foundation, Intermediate, or Senior Phase.
  • Be registered with SACE (South African Council for Educators).
  • Must demonstrate:
    • A genuine interest in education and a passion for working with learners.
    • Strong moral character, including integrity, honesty, reliability, and respect for confidentiality.
    • A willingness to work collaboratively in teams and a commitment to aligning with the ethos and values of Epworth School.
    • A clear criminal record.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Epworth intern, you will be actively involved in the daily life of the school, taking on responsibilities that are critical to your professional development:

  • Assist with Class Teaching: Support lead teachers in the classroom, assist with lesson delivery, and help facilitate student learning.
  • Preparation & Set-up: Help organize and prepare learning materials, resources, and classroom environments for lessons and activities.
  • General Administration: Gain experience in essential administrative tasks such as recordkeeping, grading, and lesson preparation.
  • Professional Development: Attend workshops and training sessions designed to enhance your teaching skills and pedagogical knowledge.
  • Sports Coaching: Assist with coaching sports teams and developing learners’ athletic abilities and sportsmanship.
  • Academic Tutoring: Provide support and academic assistance to individual learners who need extra help.
